Scalar and vector resolutes

A vector expressed in component form:

has been resolved into three directions parallel to the _x_,_ y_ and _z_
axes respectively.

A vector can also be resolved into two other directions to make a
right-angled triangle. These are parallel to and perpendicular to a certain
direction (usually another vector).
