Gravimetric analysis - activity 6
A gaseous compound of carbon and hydrogen is used as a fuel for
high-temperature cutting and welding of metals. It contains 92.26% by mass
of carbon. When a 1.373 g sample of the gas is collected at 25 degrees
celcius and 99.5 kPa it is found to occupy a volume of 1.308 L.
Determine the empirical and molecular formulas for the compound.
