Chemistry - What is chemical analysis?
What is chemical analysis?
All manufacturers of chemicals and consumer products are engaged in
ongoing 'quality control' beginning with the selection of raw materials and
proceeding through to thorough assays of products prior to release of a
product for use or consumption. Quality control is necessary to ensure
adherence to standards laid down by government and other authorities.
At the manufacturing level the purpose of chemical analysis is to assess
and maintain the quality of chemicals used and produced in chemical
Analysis is carried out at three key stages in any chemical manufacturing
* testing the raw materials used;
* testing reaction mixtures; and
* testing the product, sometimes referred to as 'quality control'.
