Biology - Natural selection
We must, however, acknowledge, as it seems to me, that man with all his
noble qualities, still bears in his bodily frame the indelible stamp of his
lowly origin. Charles Darwin. Descent of Man. Ch. 21, 1871
Natural selection is the theory that suggests how change has taken place
in species over time, that is the process. It was proposed separately by
_Darwin and Wallace._

of natural selection provides the mechanism.
Alfred Russell Wallace
