Biology - How organisms are classified
How organisms are classified
People place objects into groups on the basis of the characteristics [1]
they share. Several different objects can be grouped together if they have
something in common. This makes life easier. For example, if items in a
supermarket were randomly placed throughout the store, it would be very
difficult to find what you wanted. Instead the manager ensures that similar
items are grouped together.
The process of putting objects into groups, based upon shared features, is
called classification.
