Psychology -> Positive correlation Positive correlation When both variables change in the same direction, i.e. either increasing or decreasing in value, it is referred to as a positive correlation. This indicates a direct relationship between the two variables, where high scores on variable X are associated with high scores on variable Y and low scores on variable X are associated with low scores on variable Y. For example, one could predict a positive correlation between the number of hours practicing a sport and the number of games won. In this case most of the dots on the scatter diagram would be clustered together, indicating that an increase in one variable is associated with an increase in the other variable.
