Outdoor Education - Ways of viewing the environment: worth-ship, worship
and kinship
Worth-ship, worship and kinship
There are three different categories that most perceptions of the land fit
into; worth-ship, [1] worship [2] and kinship. [3] Worth-ship is when the
environment is objectified, when it is conceived as objects of instrumental
value. Worship is when the environment is objectified, when it is conceived
as objects of intrinsic value. Kinship is when environments are
subjectively identified with self. When you look at the conflict arising
over a piece of land you need to look at what perception point each group
is coming from. In the venue you have looked at you need to identify the
different conflicting groups and try to explore each group's perception of
the environment.
