Outdoor Education - Aborigines and the land
Aboriginal land
From all this evidence we can begin to understand the complex and close
affiliation the Aborigines had with their land and how this directly
affected the way they perceived and used it. In your report you must
illustrate that you understand this complex relationship and the specific
uses of the land by the Aboriginals in your particular venue. It is most
important that you illustrate your understanding of the complexity of this
relationship between the land and the Aboriginal people and avoid using
stereotypes and cliches as these are often misleading and quite wrong.
There is a great deal of information about Aboriginal issues in the media.
[1] It would be very helpful to keep a collection of things from
newspapers, magazines and television, because you must show that you
understand the past patterns of use of an area and by understanding the
current issues you will gain a window to the past. Also this information
will be most helpful for Criterion 5.
