Intermediate Mathematics - Maximum or minimum
Maximum or minimum
The may not be the value of the function at the turning point. A turning
point gives a _'local' maximum or minimum value_ of a function. It is a
feature of the graph which occurs in a small region of the domain. The
values you choose must be close to _x = a._ To find the _'global' maximum
or minimum value_ of the function check the value at the end-points of the
domain.
