Health and Human Development - Environmental and inherited factors
affecting development and health

Socioeconomic status

The neighbourhood in which you live is dependent upon your socioeconomic
status. This neighbourhood will give you access to community resources,
such as libraries, parks, health care centres, and community bus for the
elderly. These resources will all enhance development and health.

Each country has a different way of measuring socioeconomic status, but it
is generally linked to income levels in a household and home ownership.

Family provides access to and availability of resources for optimum
development and health, such as shelter or home, comfort, support, regular
and adequate meals, play equipment and education. A family's income level
also determines the level of health care available and level of education.
