Writing an opinion about a topic is a way of informing readers about a
point of view that may be different from their own. Writing an opinionative
piece does not mean that the writer can say anything they want. It must
still be reasoned, fair and balanced. It may also be passionate and
demonstrate the writer's convictions and beliefs.
