Review - graphs
We have investigated a wide range of situations in which you might collect
and analyse the data.
The situations included the collection of commercial data for the number
of ice creams sold by a beach ice cream van and the income generated by a
group of movies in the first three days after their release; the age of the
members for a tennis club; and the weather data for the range of
temperatures over a day, or the maximums or minimums over a week or month.
Also, much social data is summarised and the trends shown in graphs.
For example, we developed a column graph for the distances ridden by a
group of students in a week-long adventure ride and a second column graph
for the phone calls made each month by a girl during one year.
Typically when we look at graphs we are interested in the trend - is the
data increasing or decreasing - and the range of values between the minimum
and maximum values.
