Biology - Chemical digestion
Food that has been mechanically digested is still too large to be used by
the body. Through chemical digestion the food is broken down into very
* carbohydrates are broken down into monosaccharides 
* proteins are broken down into amino acids 
* lipids are broken down into fatty acids and glycerol
assist with chemical digestion. Digestive enzymes are proteins that are
designed to speed up the chemical breakdown of food.
