Tips to Get More Facebook Engagement

Mentioning Other People in Posts to Get More Engagement
in this video i want to talk about a simple but important topic and that is that if you mention people in your updates you will get more likes and shares for example here it is like let's say i make an update this is just going to be a fictitious update i'm not going to really post this but i'm going to make this really brilliant statement business is hard okay obviously it's a duh you know obviously business is hard and whatever this is going to get some kind of a interest and some people will look at it whatever ignore it but if i say this is something i recently talked with um at and then i maybe add a friend right and then i say how interesting that conversation was or something like that guess what's going to happen the more i make it about the friend it doesn't matter who the friend is the more i make it about the other person they'll see that they get tagged they'll get an alert about it they'll check out your post and because it's about them they'll like they'll probably share and what else is going to happen is they might comment a few times on different uh people they might leave a comment on their own and they might reply to other people's comments and so what is that going to do it's going to give you a lot of initial engagement activity and that is going to be something that you're going to use to get even to get facebook to promote you to even more people right engagement gets more engagement and mentioning people very simple very nice being just being social gets you more engagement and gets you in the right headed in the right direction.

Big Data Research Infographic
i came across this infographic and it has the results of buzzsumo's review of 800 million posts so this is kind of like a big data insight and it turned out that status updates or facebook updates that have under 50 characters have the most engagement so when you're brief that really gets you a lot of engagement and other things that help your engagement is if you link to long and insightful articles or if you post during off peak times where you're not competing against as many other articles or posts that people are making and people are looking for fresh content and also if your visual which we already covered in this course quite extensively then that's also going to help you quite a bit because that's going to catch people's eyes and if you also ask questions then of course people will engage because it's kind of like you're you know you're asking people essentially to engage when you ask a question so these are some of the interesting metrics that i found in this infographic that i wanted to share with you.

Hack to Get More Likes, Comments and Shares from Posts
here's another variation of a little bit of a hack slash trick to get more likes comments and other engagement and whatever you post and this is just a simplified version but take a look you can say favorite animal and comment if you like dogs press like if you like cats share this and if you like some other animal then comment that's going to get you a lot of comments of people liking elephants or pigs or whatever else this is a very simplified example but you can do this with political statements you can do this with other favorite things sports teams news of the day so basically it's just a way for you to naturally build in more engagement into your post so try this out and right away you'll get a little bit more engagement from people just trying to voice their opinion and wanting to be heard.

How to Get More Facebook Engagement
i want to show you guys a really cool but strange thing i discovered about getting engagement on facebook and i'm going to show you see my posts don't quite get a lot of engagement but i'll show you one that really
surprised me that you can also use and i'll show you what's happening here where is it okay so somebody on my facebook if this is this while i'm sure what i'm showing you here is my business page the problemio page but what i'm gonna talk about now is on my personal facebook which is a different account someone posted this video it was really funny it's about dogs doing funny things it was great and what that meant was that this video was going viral at that time and look uh when i posted it so when i posted this video to my facebook group and my facebook group is about business nothing to do with dogs okay so it's zero relevance but what was really relevant about it was the timing because that this video was going viral that day okay so the timing issue that almost no one talks about it turned out to be huge because look at this i got a i got a lot of this is not paid right this is free a lot of people who i have no idea who they are um liked this post right so it got a reasonable amount of engagement it reached 250 people right which is more as you'll see than my other posts and so here's what i did right basically a dog video nothing to do right and this got a tremendous number of whereas i have you see 650 people right so it's uh almost it's about 40 percent reach of my audience right whereas the posts before you can see you know if i posted something promoting my own things i got like 10 times less reach right 25 people 24 people reached 24 people reached 17 people reached right you get the idea 22. so typically if i just post nice pictures interesting articles promote my things i don't get a ton of reach facebook limits that for me but here i go here uh and sometimes you know i tried experimenting with funny things right and this reached 60 people and i got a little bit of engagement so okay so funny things work but this just went through the roof before this post i wasn't getting much engagement compared to this post and you'll never by the way reach 100 of your followers because most of them are not even you know some of them are not even online some of them are on vacation whatever you so you're never going to have 100 reach but 40 reach is quite not bad okay so this was probably a success because what's going to happen is if you get a reach people click on your page and guess what happens people i linked you know they can see my problem.com they can see a you know link to problemio.com and ultimately i get to funnel more people to uh and they also see my other posts that i make so i ultimately get the funnel people to my website and my products but generally first i need to get engagement so here's what i did right so let's go back to this dog video so the dog video what was really crucial about this dog video is that that particular video was going and this is what you have to use okay for your facebook marketing this particular video was going viral that day okay so the timing of it the time of its popularity is turned out to be hugely important now i try to here's look at my later posts right i tried to make like a i tried to repost a funny picture but it got a very limited uh reach right so it's not something that you're gonna consistently get right even though i got a large reach here right away my next post back to very little even below below my average then i posted something yeah that was that same post then i posted um these are really beautiful photos about like 2014 um because i was taping it at towards the end of 2014. um so i mean i'm taping this video and i posted this at the end of 2014. so 67 people reached it's far more than i usually get maybe three times more four times more but it's not that crazy reach i got with this dog video right so um so the dog video was going very viral at that day this wasn't this was just something he discovered online that was cool right so it's cool people like it but you see it's not that and it's irrelevant from my from for the topic of my group because again the topic of my group is business so then let me show you what i did later then of course i try to promote something from my own website glowing star is my blog very limited reach so as soon as you start to promote other things it goes down then i posted a picture from usa today um it's an article about the top entrepreneur of the year again maybe three times my regular engagement which is not bad because you see when you get a large spike in engagement people sometimes click through on your profile and then they end up going like i mentioned they end up going through your website to your website you know they see who you are they see your branding they see your links here right um and my my page here isn't branded so well i gotta rebrand it but but you see if it was perfectly beautifully branded and it was super clear what people will get they would click further you know so so you want to kind of funnel them in by building the um engagement and by getting engagement you're kind of funneling more people from facebook um to your posts and your page and from that they'll some of them will click on your site so that's really the strategy and so you want to link so you want to post um uh really funny things right uh or things that are going viral that day right um this was also popular that day right so i reached 119 people it and totally irrelevant it's just like equivalent to cat videos right um just nice photos like um and then here i posted you know i thought this was going to be an interesting article for my audience the funniest thing is that my audience even though the audience is like entrepreneurs uh the entrepreneur articles get like far less engagement than actual like cat pictures and things like that so you see i posted my video got very limited reach you know um you know this is maybe like three percent engagement right or four percent engagement um from my group so it's not one percent which is like facebook's baseline but it's certainly not great um and then what happened was so i did this out i did another experiment that will really be telling and this is why i really think that it's you know timing is such a huge thing because this video is one of the videos that got i think it's gotten over 100 million views on youtube so it's incredibly popular right charlie beat my finger it's kind of like a phenomenon if you haven't seen it youtube this thing is hilarious um it's really cute video right but it wasn't going viral recently it went viral like years ago right and it's just it has kind of it's popular but it's not something that's going crazy viral right now so guess what there's no there wasn't that timing it wasn't going viral now so facebook actually limited the reach of this video by quite a bit right see that so their algorithm yeah popular stuff is fine but recent stuff right so they didn't you know really promote me and then i promoted my book on amazon which also got about a three or four percent engagement which whatever um and then i promoted something else which is a popular video of mine um it's actually a cool video but again right not a whole lot here so uh the timing you see all the other posts what they don't have is they're not going viral now because facebook knows what other facebook users are posting and if they know that something is being very popular right now then that gets trust right then they'll they'll show it to more people because they know that people are loving that right now right so the timing find what's popular now post it on your facebook group and then from your facebook funnel people you know from here from here to your url also you can funnel people from here and here right you can shop now i have a button here they can go directly to my products um things like that um also in the about and more things like that so there's ways from your page how you can funnel people to your site but to get people to your facebook group or page is actually you've got to um post things that are going viral right now and that's the recipe for getting the most free um people to to your um page that's really you know i guess we'll call it the secret.

Hack to Increase Post Engagement from Outside of Facebook
in this video let's go over a little bit of a marketing hack to cross pollinate your posts and increase your traffic across your social networks here's a post i made that the post itself doesn't matter what really matters is that it has a date and it's interesting here because the date is clickable and you can click and you see it has a url okay and this url it's it's a url of this post so you can post it on your blog on your twitter on your pinterest on your linkedin and this will get people to actually when they click on it to come to your facebook and so if it's a part of a group or a page they can then go and they can then like or join your group or page or whatever you have so this is a way to cross-pollinate people from your other social networks to come and join your facebook by giving them your facebook url in your pro in your social media promotions when you're promoting on other social networks so that is going to give you a little bit more people coming from elsewhere on the web and joining your facebook group.

How to Use Images in Posts
i want to show you a really quick and simple way to immediately increase any kind of engagement you get when you post on facebook and that involves simply adding a photo to your to your post so there are three kinds of things you can do there are you can make an update without an image that gets the least exposure and then i'll show you so you see this uh post by kishan janini uh you know it has a little tiny image that comes from the url but he posted a link and that that link had an image and this is where the image little blurb comes from and this increases engagement but let me show you how to increase engagement even more because if i scroll down just a little bit there's another there's a udemy instructor his name is dennis smith and he actually look at the image he posted right it's a really nice bright clear and huge huge image right so this image isn't really just from the page where he links to this image is something he uploaded okay and i'll show you how to find images very easily for free and basically you see it just takes up so much real estate on the page it's bound to get you more engagement so these kind of custom images bright clear very nice right uh it just gets it takes more space and hence it gives you more exposure and basically you don't have to look for them very far you can go to images.google.com they have a ton of images and if you want to search for anything like i don't know something fun right i don't know something random you get all these images i mean of course you should search an image that's relevant for whatever your post is about i'm here just doing fun as an example but you can see you can pick out like this one will be like you know really nice one this fun one will be a nice one it's it's clear you know it's not cluttered like you know and it will it will take a lot of page um you know maybe this fun also it's bright right um you you want to probably stick stick you know don't go for images that are cluttered that are hard to understand like like this one for example that maybe not ideal and of course if you want what you can do is you can run it through an image image editing program and you can make the image bigger just increase the dimensions right and so that those three strategies post the big impost you know an image in your post find endless amounts of images for free and you can of course use better places to find images this was just an example and you can increase uh the image size in an image editing website like which is free or like photoshop which is not free and then you can have big bright images like that that immediately increase engagement you get with your posts which is especially good if you're selling on on facebook right if there's something you're selling of course you want more and more people to see it to stop and look at it and but even if you're not selling you always want more engagement right that's why you're posting more people to see it so that's really one really quick tip for for doing it um and even another tip is sometimes i have a i have a few pre-saved images that i use for main for common things like if i have a sale i have like an image that i use for sale so once you get an image you don't have to get it every time you can just reuse your old one if it was detective so it may be announcement i have an announcement image sale i have a sale image right so a few major things that are going to commonly come up is something you can regularly post and just increase your facebook engagement right away.
