Facebook Marketing Basics

Why just posting your business on Facebook is not enough
so as i've already mentioned most first-time marketers and first-time entrepreneurs they have this as their social media marketing strategy i'll advertise on facebook and twitter and i'll get my friends to share and hopefully they will get their friends to share and all that right and that was also my um social media strategy when i first started marketing i mean so i i really i really understand it here's why it's not gonna here's why it's limited like i do wanna explain why it's limited i don't want to say oh it's wrong the reason it's limited and not so right is because yes so here's how the experience is going to go you're going to launch your product on day one you're going to say hey friends everybody on my facebook guys come um like myself right some friends will like it right you'll probably be disappointed by how many of your friends that you thought were friends actually end up like not taking any action and you'd be like a little bit pissed off but then the real problem but actually you'll still get some people liking your stuff the real problem is the people who your friends are supposed to get to share your friends your stuff they don't know you and to them it's going to be another product and they have like a million products and they're so they're so indifferent to them that that second layer of sharing is just gonna die right it's just gonna it's just gonna level up unless your product is so amazing unless it's gonna go like viral and social which we'll talk about at some point but um but if it's like any regular product um you know uh like you know it usually dies off right and you've got to have more there's the same with twitter right you go on twitter you say hey guys please repeat my stuff blah blah blah and some people might you know some people might do it for you but not going to get you a whole lot and then that's going to end in like 10 minutes right if you post it people share people don't share and then you're sitting there waiting okay what's next nothing's next you got to do what's next right so you have to have more to your marketing strategy so there's nothing wrong with posting things on your facebook or twitter but you've got to have such a further such a such a more developed marketing strategy and i have a whole marketing course of like social media and overall marketing like research and everything i mean you really have to be broader right because social media today it's like facebook marketing pinterest youtube it's blogging um and you know there's other things you gotta immigrate in that you gotta position it so that you can get publicity you gotta position it so that you can get search links and all that and get traffic from search so a good marketing strategy is just orders of magnitude deeper and more savvy than simply posting on facebook right um but of course in the next videos we're going to talk about uh facebook specifically but in this course i mean it's called courses about that but but really i just wanted to explain why it's just that that thing that people have in mind when they first start and most people like an overwhelming majority of people you know they say facebook marketing as their first choices that's just not enough it's not enough um so you've got to think bigger but in this course of course i'll teach you how to um get the most out of your facebook marketing and how to really make good decisions in it.

Facebook marketing from a page vs. group vs. personal page vs. fan page
in this video i'll break down for you the difference between the four types of ways you can promote on facebook from a page from a group from a fan page and from your personal facebook page let's start with your personal facebook page first of all it's your friends they're not your business contacts you don't want to oversell in fact some people including myself feel a little bit uncomfortable promoting to pure friends because i don't want to cross the line of friendship and having people feel like i'm taking advantage of them or promoting to them i just don't want that and i don't want to risk friends losing friends over business it's just not worth it for me but if you don't mind doing that this can be a very powerful way to promote your business because if you can get your friends to get involved in your cause and in your story and keep them engaged and keep them sort of get them to be fans of yours and share the hardships and share the little wins and get them to comment ask them what they think get people to really engage with what you're doing then you're going to build a really special group that they know you better than anyone to your friends they know you better than your business clients and they're going to be able to help you with everything you work on if you need extra promotion extra sharing they're going to be the first ones to jump in if you don't want don't mind crossing the gray area of friends and business now about creating business pages these usually have at least engagement in fact facebook restricts how much your posts are seen facebook doesn't show your posts to all your uh p all the people who like your business page because they want you to pay business pages are generally made to run ads if you're going to run ads you should have a business page you should understand that the people who liked your business page will not
necessarily see your posts again only a few percent a small percentage of them will see it and to have everyone who like the business page see it you'll have to pay facebook although it might be worth it because those people have already shown an interest in your business but just remember business pages are for ads
if you want free engagement then you need a facebook group facebook groups are the number one tool to create engaged communities where people interact and participate and this is where you really build your super fans this is where you can talk to your fans post good content and be more likely assured that they are that people are going to see your content now keep in mind you cannot run ads from facebook groups that's the big distinction you're going to run out facebook page if you're going to run if you just want a community groups it's facebook groups but you will not be able to run ads from facebook groups keep that in mind this is for getting people to be long-term fans and you have to post in your group consistently over time interesting exciting things that people learn and get excited about and engage the more people you can get intoengage in the group the more success you'll have in your group and the more you'll build a small army of people who will engage and buy from you whenever you post things long term lastly fan pages most of us are not celebrities so this does not apply to most of us but if you have a following if you're an athlete a singer entertainer comedian anything else that maybe you you it makes sense that you're a celebrity then you can have a fan page but for most of us that's nota particular really a tremendous option so this is the four options you have to promote yourself on facebook.

How Facebook Is Replacing a Large Use of LinkedIn
in this video let's consider how facebook is becoming the new linkedin not placing it but really serving a huge part of what linkedin is for business networking maybe if you're trying to sell to other businesses or getting leads you can get leads on facebook reaching out to potential clients all these things so let's let me show you how to do it and i'll run you through an example of a group that i'm a part of it's a
podcasting group so for example i don't know what business you have but take for example that my business is let's say i am uh i am a video or audio editing professional a freelancer who edits audio and my clients are podcasters or people who make video or anyone who works in the industry so i'll go hmm how do i reach a lot of podcasters right so i look for podcasting groups and so i'm a part of one group i'll give you an example so it's podcasters world podcasters world they search for it i'm on it and it's this one i see i'm joined here so i go on it and you see there are 2 000 people who are in the in the podcasting community here a lot of them have podcasts you have a number of options of how to interact you can answer people's questions you can comment you can become a known and recognized good citizen here but also you can look at all the people in this group you can click that and you can message them individually because they are pretty good leads some of them are people that you're going to know maybe but then once you go down and you'll see what they're working on you see exactly what they're doing they can check out what they're doing and you can see if they're a good lead for you so if they have a podcast and you're an audio editor it's a great
match and this is how you can get um in touch you you can message them directly and on facebook it's a little bit warmer when you get into their p when you get into people's message area they often answer it now keep in mind sometimes facebook has this thing the other inbox so if you're not their friend immediately you might not get into this and you might get into their other inbox but for now typically professionals they they understand how to check their other inbox for from for messages from people who they don't know and so this way you can interact with
people that are potential leads you can make business contact you can do all sorts of things here and if you want you can just run through a list of this 2000 people is going to take you forever but definitely if you are an audio editor i bet you will get some clients after doing this because almost all podcasters at some point need to outsource a good audio editor and so whatever your business is you go to groups that are full of people who need your services or your product and you interact there either individually or publicly and network like like you would in linkedin.

Colored Background Posts to Boost Engagement
in this video i'm going to show you a very cool simple way to boost the engagement of your text posts and facebook's value is actually according to them is actually that people really come to facebook to see the genuine insights about what's happening to their connections and what's happening is a lot of people are posting promotional messages branded messages messages you know like links from big news sites that people can get anywhere else so what facebook did is they try to boost the engagement of text posts from people individuals and this is how they do it so let's say you make a this is a test post this is a test post just for our purposes and what you can do is give it a color sticker and it's going to make it like this and when you post it it's going to take up a lot of space it's going to have big letters and people are definitely not going to miss this the only warning is that if you let this run too long it's going to uh there's only a limited limited amount of characters let's see if we can edit this and if we go if we keep i don't think you're going to edit this one but let's actually make a new one this is the second test and if i give it a sticker like not a sticker a color background but then if i go like the let's see at some point if i get too many characters you see that at some point you just run out run over the limit i don't know the exact limit is but just make sure that you don't write too long if you're if you're writing too long of an update it's not going to be able to fit it all in this area but as long as it's able to fit all this in this area it's going to have let's cancel this thing and it's going to be able to post this in a nice um kind of a color background very clear text that you're posting much easier to read than the little text and much more engaging because it's taking up so much real estate so your posts are automatically going to get more engagement if you use this.
