- The reasons for concrete compaction are as follows: Compaction results in the highest possible density of concrete by removing voids; It has the effect of fluidifying the mortar component of the mix so that internal friction is reduced and packing of coarse aggregate takes place; It increases the abrasion resistance and general durability of the concrete, decreases permeability, and helps to minimise its shrinkage and creep characteristics; It has a direct impact on achieving the specified surface finish.
