Mark Thompson is an experienced BIM (building information modelling) co-ordinator working for a top architectural practice in the United Kingdom. With a background in architecture, having studied it at university, he gained an interest in how digital technologies can support and improve the outputs of the design process. He has worked for a number of large international organisations including multi-discipline designers and contractors.
Mark's primary role is to support architectural design teams in implementing digital workflows on projects. The primary software platform used is Autodesk Revit, of which he has over 10 years of experience, but he is also very familiar with other platforms such as Navisworks, Dynamo and Solibri Model Checker. Mark has a keen interest in openBIM workflows and IFC (industry foundation classes) and believes it to be a way to allow a significant level of interoperability across a somewhat fragmented industry.
As well as supporting design teams, Mark develops training material and organisation specific content to improve the use of digital processes within the practice.
