Richard Boothman's rural background laid the foundations for a life-long interest in the environment and the issues affecting it. He has been an associate lecturer with The Open University (OU) in the United Kingdom for over 20 years. He set up Ideostone to educate individuals and businesses to understand the scale of the environmental challenges we face and to take whatever action they can.

In his work with the OU, Richard has supported many students from varying social and academic backgrounds. He has worked on four environmental undergraduate and post-graduate modules, a role that requires him to stay abreast of a range of global environmental issues, their causes and solutions. He has also used the expertise developed with the OU to provide training services to businesses in the UK and to develop online courses. He is also an examiner for environmental certificate and diploma courses with NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Health and Safety). Since 2014, through Ideostone, Richard has provided training in environmental management to many people and has developed a range of online environmental courses aimed at both business and individual learners.

Ideostone is an online learning company with a vision to enhance environmental understanding for learners around the world. The goal of the company is to develop environmental courses that provide important information in a way that can be easily understood and acted upon. What sets their courses apart is the knowledge of environmental issues and the passion they have for helping others to share their knowledge and do what they can to safeguard our future. Ideostone is based on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the United Kingdom.
