Alison Journalism Course: module 1 Element of Journalism Describe the different types of journalist? There are 5 types of journalist: 1. The Newspaper Journalists 2. The Magazine Journalists 3. The Television Broadcast Journalists 4. The Radio Broadcast Journalists 5. The Web Journalists Newspaper Journalists: Work includes, carrying on researching and writing stories for national, regional, local event, entertainment and other human interest stories. Newspaper Journalists also report news and politics, including sports, arts, culture, science, business and report directly to the editor for consideration. Magazine Journalists: Responsibilities are to carry on research and writes news articles and features for a wide range of publications. Their work also includes going to meetings to plan the content of the magazine, interviewing and strict researching to collect information for articles, writing articles to suit the magazine style. He must make sure that, he keep-up-to-date with development and trends in the magazine subjects’ area and must work as a critique by reviewing concerts, foods etc. Television Broadcast Journalist: The Broadcast Journalists will generate ideas and assess the value and accuracy of ideas and information from other sources before presenting same as news items for consideration by editors, commissioners or other decision makers in the industry. Radio Broadcast Journalist: Far back the centuries, radio was the first medium for broadcast journalism, apart from the advent of the Internet today, radio often considered as taking the leads in terms of area coverage among other news medium. Radio Broadcast Journalists area of responsibility is to identify research and present news stories for a wide range of audiences. They are also expected to present news bulletins, voice news items, record interviews as well as longer features to the editors for scrutiny and subsequent airing out as news items to the audience. Web Journalist: Web Journalist otherwise known as digital, on-line Journalists are those journalists who carried out contemporary type of journalism where the news editorial content is usually distributed via the Internet which is often opposed to the regular publishing via print or in the broadcast medium. Today some fewer barriers to entry particularly, lower costs of distribution as well as diverse computer networking technologies have significantly led to the widespread practice of digital journalism and many more print and broadcast journalists are switching over to practicing on-line journalism.
