Entrepreneurship

An entrepreneur is not only open to new ways of thinking and of doing things, but also has the vision, drive, and energy to bring an idea from concept to reality.

Skills such as time management, understanding financial statements, are all challenges in the entrepreneurial world.

It is important to research the viability of a business idea starting with the size of the market and if the idea will be compelling enough to meet a need.

Before starting a new business is to ask yourself these three questions:
What are you selling? To whom are you selling it? Why would they buy it?

Entrepreneurs are motivated by discovery, creativity, and innovation.

Selling Yourself and Your Idea

A business plan is a document that details everything about the business from the product position in the marketplace to the financial information.

You will need your business plan to secure resources from your bank, insurance company, lawyer and other support areas.

Communicate your vision and supporting details in a clear, concise, and confident manner.

An internship can provide insight into an industry or a specific company or position as well as an opportunity to get experience and network.

You have to keep a positive mental attitude throughout your search and manage your time to gain experience.

Managing Yourself

You can and should be an A-Player. That means being the best at what you do.

Those who are successful realize how to manage themselves and their time and use the resources that are available to them.

Take advantage of as many opportunities as you can to ride-along with experienced salespeople and view it as a training opportunity.

Develop relationships with the best-performing salespeople in the company so you can learn the best practices.

Understand your sales goals: exactly what is expected and by when.

Salespeople get paid on results, not on the number of hours worked.
