Getting a diagnosis is a starting point for people who suffer from personality disorders. You may be worried about someone getting angry at you if you bring it up, but the alternative is much worse. Some personality disorders come with the risk of suicide or self-harm. Others include risky behaviors that could land someone in jail. Once someone realizes that their thoughts and behaviors are having a bad impact on their lives, a diagnosis can help them find a way to work against those challenges. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy talking to someone about seeing a therapist.

A thought. Obsessive compulsive PERSONALITY disorder is different from Obsessive compulsive disorder. The former is an impulse control disorder, it is "ego dystonic" individual is aware that it makes no sense but has to perform those actions/compulsions in order to relieve the obsessions/thoughts. The latter OCPD is ''ego syntonic'' the patient belives there is nothing wrong with his thought/actions. they are the stereotypical perfectionist. both are not synonymous.

Personality disorders seem to be very common. In reading this, it seems as though we could all know someone with at least one of these disorders. Asthemic personality is the most surprising. I know a few people that have these symptoms. They are referred to in our group of friends and "eor" or "Debbie Downer." Nothing makes them happy, always wanting to lay down, constant complaining.
