Too often people don't even realize they are being insensitive or promoting stigma. How many times have you heard a joke that involved a mis-perception on mental illness or if someone behaves a certain way they are automatically called crazy?

I think it is vital for people who are diagnosed with a mental illness to get help and follow through with the program with professionals (Psychologist, psychiatrists and family doctors). I wonder if the statistics include the situations when employers have no choice but to modify employment responsibilities or remove people from certain positions if their mental illness results in a safety or security issue for the person(s) involved and/or an economical issue for the company resulting from lack of performance by the person with the mental illness. This would not be discrimination. There are some jobs that can not be performed by some people with certain mental illnesses and I think that as hard as that is to say, it has to be recognized.
