Taking a temperature- make sure that the thermometer is clean.shake the thermometer.Make sure that it shows lower than 35c.- Taking a pulse u need a watch or clock with a second hand. Put your index finger and your middle finger on the inside of the patient's wrist on the side where his or her thumb is. Never use your thumb because your thumb has its own pulse and it will confuse your counting.count the number of beats that you feel in 30 seconds
