    Calculating probabilities A hypergeometric distribution. The probability distribution of a hypergeometric variable is a hypergeometric probability distribution. The distribution is given by listing all possible values of the variable with their probabilities. Remember that, for a probability distribution, the total probability is always 1. Example : A box contains nine identical batteries, except that there are six good batteries and three defective batteries. A sample of two batteries is drawn from the box. X is the number of good batteries in this sample. List all possible values of X. Write out all possible samples of two selections and the range of good and defective batteries with their probabilities. Be careful! The probabilities for the second selection depend on whether the first selection was a good battery or a defective one.
