Health and Human Development - Global health: women's health programs
Women's health programs
When females are educated about health and nutrition and the importance
of safe water and sanitation, the health of the family and the community
improves.
With governments, international agencies and local communities working
together, hopefully a significant difference for women of all ages will
occur. A mother's health is often essential for.
A package of essential services for women was developed after an analysis
of the World Bank's Development Report in 1993 and in consultation with
specialists in women's health from every region of the world.
The package of essential services includes:
* prevention and management of unwanted pregnancies by providing
information and services on family planning
* safe pregnancy and delivery services by providing information on
prenatal care, safe delivery, immunisation, iron-folate supplementation,
nutrition counselling and the detection and treatment of obstetric
complications
* prevention and management of STDs by promoting and distributing
condoms, screening and treating syphilis
* promotion of positive health practices by providing public education
and private counselling on issues such as delaying childbearing, safe sex
and adequate nutrition as well as endeavouring to increase male support for
improved health and nutrition for women
* public education programs and policies to promote women and girls
having equal access to food and health care. Other issues such as gender
discrimination, domestic violence and rape are discouraged

Issues on women health problems need to be updated as times and environment have changed due to the fast rate of urbanization in Africa. More and more females are being emancipated greatly and are no longer eating last and singleness and desire for independent is becoming more widespread especially in Urban areas. Once again nothing on old male health problems: Osteoporosis, prostate, sight and hormonal imbalance effects on both sexes in their old age.
