Socioeconomic status - is an economic and sociological combined total measure of a person's work experience and of an individual's or family's economic and social position in relation to others, based on income, education, and occupation. When analyzing a family's Socioeconomic status, the household income, earners' education, and occupation are examined, as well as combined income, whereas for an individual's Socioeconomic status' only their own attributes are assessed. However, Socioeconomic status is more commonly used to depict an economic difference in society as a whole.

Socio-economic factors, also widely spoken of as SES (socio-economic status), is basically two things: (1) Financial resources or income, and (2) level of education. Notice how poor and uneducated people will win the lottery but still don't change. They spend all the money frivolously. Some still get in trouble with the law. They often end up in the same circumstances (or worse ones) than before they won. This is because SES is not only about money, and many poor people are not poor only because they caught a tough break in life. Ever notice how highly educated people act differently and make different choices even though they may be just as poor as their peers? Now, SES is highly correlated with things like IQ, likely hood to go to college, academic success, crime, race, health disparities, drug use (especially certain drugs of choice)... the list grows with every piece of research. In fact, many of the "racist" things our society touts are actually correlated with SES and not race at all (unfortunately race is correlated with SES too. This might be because harsh racist histories have crippled families and subsequent generations don't often grow up to increase their level of SES. The cycle goes on and on).

Each country has a different way of measuring socioeconomic status, but it is generally linked to income levels in a household and home ownership. Family provides access to and availability of resources for optimum development and health, such as shelter or home, comfort, support, regular and adequate meals, play equipment and education. A family's income level also determines the level of health care available and level of education.

The socioeconomic factors that really affect things like health are money, and education. If you don't have the money to take care of yourself, you're not going to go spend money at the doctors office that you don't have. If you don't have an education you'll never really get anywhere in life.
