Health and Human Development - Time
Time
Lack of time for meal preparation is a modern-day problem. The results of
this are seen in the growth in cheaper fast food restaurants, more home
delivery meal services, a much greater variety of ready prepared foods and
meals available in the supermarkets with some supermarkets specialising in
ready prepared meals. But all of these foods and services cost more to the
consumer. More time can be available for busy individuals and families if
they plan their food shopping and buy, prepare and store foods when there
is time. This means less preparation time is required at busier times of
the week. They can also buy some foods that have been minimally prepared,
e.g. marinated or prepared meat 'short cuts'.
