    what one learns and experience about food in the family has strongest influence in food selection. the is major influence on the diet of young children, influencing beliefs about food, table manners, food traditions, likes and dislikes. the family has changed over time leading to new trends in what, how, and when families to eat.

    how the following influenced what, how, and when families eat; working single parents, dual-income families, smaller average family size, more mobile families(commute to jobs, kids in extra- curricular activities. values- are beliefs and attitudes that are important to people. Traditions, such as making special food and eating together, are important values in many families.

    food choices are influenced by culture; what is culture? culture refers to the style of behavior or pattern that a group of people share. Generally, people within the same culture share the same assemblage of food variables while those of different cultures have different assemblages of these variables.as such we find some eating pattern and habits dominating with the same culture while people from different culture exhibit entirely different eating habits.

    culture affects all aspects of adperson's life from where you live, what you eat, how you dress. Cultures changes over time as new ideals are introduced. for example, people have become more health conscious-eating low-fat foods, buying exercise equipment and memberships health clubs. Historical influence- many people in north America have their roots based in other culture ( Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin, America).when people arrived from north America from these other places, they brought many foods and food customs within them.

    Ethnic influences; early settlers brought grain, wheat, barley, oats, rye 'and fruits and vegetable, including figs, dates, broccoli, carrots, mint and parsley. regional influences ;where people may choose to eat some foods because they are popular in the region in which they live because of the predominant ethnic group living there. religious influences; certain religious groups have rules regarding what member may or may not eat or do. food taboos- a social custom that prohibits the use of certain edible resources as food. For example Hindus do not eat beef(cow's are sacred) Muslims, Jews and some Christians dominations do not eat pork.

    CONTRIBUTION: SOME CULTURES ALSO FORBID MEMBERS IN THEIR COMMUNITY TO EAT CERTAIN FOODS WHICH ARE VERY NUTRITIOUS TO THE HEALTH.

    Your food habits are developed by the culture that surrounds you especially,your own family's culture.American as the melting pot"of many culture,exhibits many different cultural foods.but it mostly comes down to what resources are available to you in your area and what your family is used to preparing (like a tradition).
