    Effective punishment should address the person's actions not the person's character. It should be related to the undesirable behaviour and it should consist of penalties or response cost (the removal of a reinforcer) rather than psychological or physical pain.

    It also depends on how you would get a child to eat something or continuously tidy up everyday, I find it helps if you make it fun to do things like chores and eating healthy food with children, make it into game explain that eating greens makes you strong and grow and helping to tidy your toys will give you enough time to play with something else. This would help a child to become organised in the future

    Punishment offers negative reinforcement.It aim to increase the likihoodof the response occurring.Potential punishers Re any consequences which might lead to a decrease in the response. Sid-effects sometimes the punishment ends up being positive reinforcement or only serves to satisfy the frustration of the punisher.
