Accounting - Introduction
Introduction
The first step in designing an information system is to recognise
information flows. These flows are sorted into financial and non-financial
data. The financial data is processed in journals and ledgers and used to
produce reports for users. These reports are the basis of business decision
making.
It is important that you realise that the system is coherent and
interrelated. The design of the system depends on what data is collected,
and how that data is processed and reported. In turn, what users seek from
this data also impacts on system design.
It is very important that you are able to relate concepts and principles
to each stage of the accounting system.
