Lesson Summary
Sections and Sectional Views:
The use of sectional views is the elimination of hidden lines so that drawings and illustrations of the object can be easily understood and visualised.
Sectioned technical illustrations are used to describe the interior features of complicated assemblies.
Traditional section views are based on an imaginary cutting plane that cuts through the object to reveal interior features.
There are four types of cutting planes:
Full Section - go completely through the object
Half Section - go half-way through the object
Offset Section - be bent to go through features that are not aligned
Broken-out Section - go through part of the object
