Kaizen events are small or big improvement projects with a directed aim for specific improvement. Normally they are 7-15 days long events facilitated by a leader with the implementation team being mainly the members of a specific area in which the Kaizen event is being conducted. Also, the team can include a few more people from supporting departments and from management.

Kaizen events although usually considered as isolated improvement events. But it should be part of an extensive program of continuous improvement if these are meant to be successful. Short-term Kaizen events in organizations, where such incidences are not empowered by an extensive program nor comprehended well, have improvements that are short-term and erodes over time as workers go-back to precedent work methodologies.
Before just abruptly going to start a Kaizen event, it is important to know the important elements of Kaizen event in order to make this event a success.
