It is true that remuneration is not the only factor causing staff dissatisfaction. Other factors like job security and respect amongst fellow staff and supervisors also matter

No, my current company doesn't take seriously turnover. They actually think if you feel dissatisfied, you're free to leave. Not taking into account the expense they will incurre in hiring someone new and training the new employee

In my formal company, 10 key persons including myself resigned within a period of 1 year. The management did not do much to reduce turnover. The primary reason for people resigning was that they were being over-managed. Secondly, there existed a discriminate pay system - people were given salaries at the discretion of executive officers without any standard. This did not bother the management because they did not know what to do, had all the power above and were not willing to take inputs from the bottom. They gave directive to the HR instead of relaying on our experiences to do the job. The impact of this style of management was not felt by them directly since the economic consequences ware born by the government of Liberia, that gave the company subsidy. However, a new management later took over and called few key people back.

My present company did a good job reducing turnover, because initially people were not being promoted having worked for so many years so they started leaving voluntarily, until employees started getting promoted

Turnover is a very serious issue. It should be looked at critically. My previous company did not do a great job of reducing turnover because instead of addressing the issue of management, the management kept making more stringent rules to address ineffectiveness of the employees.
