Air conditioning and refrigeration system.
Annealed copper tubing that is manufactured specifically for use in air conditioning and refrigeration work.
Heating a material and slowly cooling it to relieve internal stress. This process reduces brittleness and increase toughness.
A tee fitting used on a branch that is longer than the main line, or that has one outlet larger than the run openings.
The process during soldering in which the molten solder flows into the narrow gap between the pipe and the joint, regardless of whether the solder is flowing up, down, or horizontally.
An iron or link in a chain, bent into the form of a horseshoe, stirrup, or letter U, with holes in the ends to receive a bolt or pin.
A method of connection in which tightening a threaded nut squeezes a compression ring to seal the joint.
Tubing produced by pulling the tube through dies to reduce its diameter. The drawing process hardens the copper and makes it very rigid.
A characteristic of a product made when heated metal is pounded or shaped between dies with a drop hammer or press.
A brass compression ring used for joining.
A fitting in which one end of each tube to be joined is flared outward using a special tool. The flared tube ends meet with the threaded flare fitting and are secured to the fitting with flare nuts.
The ease with which a material can bend.
The height of a water column measured in feet. One foot of head is equal to 0.433 pounds per square inch (psi).
A substance that retards the flow of heat.
The approximate measurement in inches of the inside diameter (ID) of pipes, generally for most copper pipes. However, the nominal size of ACR tubing is based on the outside diameter (OD).
A decrease in pressure from one point to another caused by friction losses in a fluid system, such as a water system.
A type of copper piping that is compatible with grooved copper fittings.
A tool consisting of a plug and a sizing ring that is used to reshape a deformed pipe back to roundness.
A pipe joint made by applying solder to the joint and heating it until it flows into the joint.
