It is important to take warning signs of suicide seriously. Someone's life could depend on it. It seems as though in the mental health setting, dealing with individuals who have thoughts of suicide could be a regular occurrence. Understanding what to do in those circumstances is very important.

There can be instances in which the individual seeking help was for instance, afraid because it is shameful thing to report. It is if one has an invisible disease as a mental illness. Reading about suicide and experiencing it are two completely different and yes it depends on the culture however, it is sad to know of individuals who suffer needlessly because someone cared enough.Help is there.

2 years ago I had to talk my best friend out of suicide. It was 2am, I was alone with only my words between her and the bottle of pills in her hand. We live over 100 miles apart, I couldn't run to her when she needed me. I could only talk and hope that was enough, she'd tried to say goodbye to me and I refused to let her go. Somehow what I said was enough and I'm proud to say she's alive right now. It was the scariest thing that's ever happened to me and I hope to be able to stop it happening to others. Then I didn't know there was people I could call about it and thought I had to do it alone because I didn't know how I could trust with such a thing. Yesterday I got a message from her saying she's okay and that those days are behind us.
