In mental health illness a situation like this is very dangerous and verbal word of approach should be use to calm the situation down and the use of therapeutic approach is to calm a violent and hostile person down and let them know that you are try help not aggressive mood, but used verbal approach. As a healthcare professional when managing a situation, violent or hostile attack the professional or trained officer should stay calm, speak calmly to empower the person vulnerability and used problem solving why the person is still an acting violence.

I don't think the average untrained person would know how they would react in this kind of situation but would hope that i could attempt to stay calm and ask him to put the weapon down so we could go and double check the results as the scorer could have made a mistake. Once the weapon was out of his hands i would ask someone to call for help and try an keep the person calm until help arrived. Alternatively i would hope that i could at least be in a position to call for help.

It makes sense in so many ways to try and calm the person down by verbal control. Speaking to them and letting them know that you do care and is willing to help them if they will let you. Restraints should be used if all other methods fail.
