The Legal System. For the legal system to be effective, it must seek to resolve disputes in a timely and appropriate manner. Undue delay or obstruction in the resolution of disputes, may result in justice not being achieved. Undue delays can often force potential litigants to abandon litigation, due to a lack of financial resources or disruption to their own personal/professional lives. Delays also create problems in trial procedures. The quality of evidence may be underplayed over time as the witnesses memories fade about critical incidents, facts and perceptions. in all, the appropriate time periods void of undue delay or interference with their lives. The timely resolution of disputes is important to the legal systems effectiveness.
