    groups means that elements that are arranged together will behave in similar manner ,they will have the same amount of electron on their outer shell so if one element losses an electron during a reaction all the others in that group will loose one during reaction.

    The most interesting aspect of the grouping is what it does and the relationship they represent. The odd numbered groups which have and odd number of electrons in the outer she;; are much more active than the molecules with even numbers of electrons in the outer shell. I think this ultimately would indicate that odd numbers of electrons are easier to combine with other elements.

    Elements are grouped by behaviour, which is indicated by the number of electrons in the outer shell of the atom. All of the metals in group II react in the same way with other elements. Group II is made up of Alkaline earth metals. Group I: Alkali Metals, with the exception of Hydrogen. Group II: Alkaline earth metals. Transition metals are displayed between groups II and III Groups III, IV and V have no specific names Group VI: Chalcogens Group VII: Halogens Group VIII: Noble Gases, often referred to as Group 0
