As CO2 levels rise, the greenhouse effect gets worse and worse. From this more heat will be getting trapped in the atmosphere and therefore making the levels of global warming go sky high. Causing the planet to be warmer than it naturally would. Once SO2 is released into the environment, sulfur dioxide moves through the air. In the air, sulfur dioxide can be converted to sulfuric acid, sulfur trioxide, and sulfates. Sulfur dioxide dissolves in water but when this happens, sulfur dioxide can form sulfurous acid. Soil can absorb sulfur dioxide when it is in the form of sulfuric acid. Many people and organizations are fighting climate change and even some of the really big organization are willing to fight against the president of the United states. For instance, one really big organization is the David Suzuki Foundation and Global Green who is planning on protesting, court challenges and many other ways to fight climate change. For the first time ever, the Canadian Government is putting a price on carbon pollution. Which is one of the best ways to keep the environment clean, and grow a cleaner economy. Also putting a price on carbon pollution gives incentives to major industries to make new methods to cut emissions. Then it will mean clean tech industries putting more jobs out there and clean air and water. Canada already has one of the cleanest electricity systems in the world. About 80 percent of electricity production comes from non-emitting sources. This is just another way the government is cutting the emissions of carbon. CO2 and SO2 should really be more recognized because of what a threat they put to our world. The high concentration of CO2 can make global warming so much worse and not to mention the fact about water levels rising. SO2 can cause major health issues and can disturb plants while being absorbed into the soil. These both come from the burning and combustion of fossil fuels which are most commonly used in major industries. From the industries using fossil fuels, it can really impact the climate and environment by polluting the air, water, and soils of our earth that are vital to our existence. From these obvious facts, society and everyone in it should be getting more involved and trying to be energy efficient. For instance, you can do things like choosing renewable power, eat wisely, trim your waste, let polluters pay, fly less, get informed, green your community and even supporting and donating to causes that fight climate change.
