Management must learn to implement certain basic concepts and systems in order to realize the Kaizen as a strategy:
PDCA means plan-do-check-act (PDCA) and SDCA means Standardize-do-check-act.
All the improvements should be routed through the Plan-Do-Check-Act model. When the improvement is effective, it should be routed through Standardize-Do-Check-Act model so as to lock the improvement and move forward.
The policy statement related to Kaizen from management is an important endeavour for Kaizen culture. Top management must issue a well thought and a clear-cut policy statement to induce Kaizen in an organization. The policy statement will then develop an implementation plan and enforce leadership by applying a Kaizen procedure within the top management as well to show commitment.
Customer Oriented Approach
Each process has its own customers and suppliers. For for instance Process "X" is followed by process "Y" which is followed by process "Z".
Process X is the supplier of process Y
Process Z is the customer of process Y
Similarly, Process Y is the customer of process X
The preceding process before process X will be its supplier.
This approach will generate a customer-oriented approach for each process.
