    1. Perils are immediate causes of loss. They have been catergorised as Natural, Human and Economic and furthermore as insurable and non-insurable. 2. Hazards are conditions that can increase the cause of loss. They can be physical or intangible. Our ability to to reduce the effects of hazards can reduce the costs and variability. 3. Perils are causes of loss, for example; war as a human peril can cause loss of innocent lives, destruction of entire communities and homes, towns and cities reduced to rubble - these are the perils as a result of war. Hazards on the other hand are conditions that can increase the cause of loss. For example a slippery road may cause a vehicle to skid and have an accident. 4.
