I appreciate this topic a lot thanks
Please describe how life on earth could have been with out these three factors.
Because the total energy of the universe is static (it will neither increase nor decrease) the continual loss of energy coming directly from the sun and the wastage of energy by organisms, which can never be compensated, means that the universe will end in a state of ultimate reduced energy (total entropy) where there will be no energy to support life anywhere. Humans can deceive themselves about the ultimate death of the universe, but there is no reason to think we are significant, given our lifespans are so short (a cosmic eyeblink) and the universe will decay just like us.
what is the infrared radiation?
yes now i can start with my courses .
How can the energy be lost into space as a form of infrared radiation. Any practical proof to that?.
Are the sea water evaporation, Monsoon and the explosion of volcanoes the part of Biogeochemical System?
Infrared Radiation : Apparently not all infrared radiation is lost in space but some does reach the earth this is what I found on the internet. Is this incorrect. If not how does it apply to us on earth as this is being used to pick up images for their heat being radiated?
it is interesting module
The earth's biogeochemical systems involve complex, dynamic processes that depend upon many factors. These factors are critical components to the functioning of the earth's systems, and their functions are necessarily interconnected. The main matter-cycling systems involve important nutrients such as water, carbon, nitrogen and phosphorus.
Click on the links below to read about the three main factors upon which life on the earth depends.
The one-way _flow of solar energy into the earth's systems. As radiant energy, it is used by plants for food production. As heat, it warms the planet and powers the weather system. Eventually, the energy is lost into space in the form of infrared radiation. Most of the energy needed to cycle matter through earth's systems comes from the sun.
The cycling of matter. Because there are only finite amounts of nutrients available on the earth, they must be recycled in order to ensure the continued existence of living organisms.
The force of gravity. This allows the earth to maintain the atmosphere encompassing its surface and provides the driving force for the downward movement of materials in processes involving the cycling of matter.
