Environment / climate / access to facilities - Where you live will affect the sports you get involved in. The landscape in the lake district for example is perfect for hiking. You need to live near the sea to take part in surfing etc

Participation in sport: socio-cultural factors - environment, climate and access Environment, climate and access If you live near the sea or a river you are far more likely to sail or row. If you live in a cold climate it is easier to take up skiing or snowboarding. The easier it is to get to a sports facility, the more likely, you are to go there. If the nearest one is a kilometre away, interstate, or overseas that makes participation difficult.
