    What are some different injury prevention techniques while playing sports?

    Injury prevention Injury is often due to one or more of the following: lack of training/specific fitness components required for the sport fatigue lack of adequate warm-up carelessness poor quality/poorly maintained facilities and equipment poor quality/poorly maintained surfaces poor fitting equipment failure to use protective equipment Here are a number of things that can be done to reduce the risk of injury. These include: ensuring adequate fitness using taping ensuring adequate warm up using protective equipment (eg mouthguard, helmets, shin guards, goggles etc) good quality coaching using qualified sports trainers adequate fluid replacement ensuring complete rehabilitation from injury scrutinising the playing conditions to ensure they are appropriate, that is, heat, cold, rain, slippery surfaces etc ensuring competition is physically balanced using modified rules and equipment You need to develop your own notes on the areas that can be worked on in order to reduce injury risk. Be aware of the most appropriate forms of injury management available eg. RICE, active rest, physiotherapy, massage, stretching, cryotherapy/ice, electro-therapy, surgery etc. Describe different types of injuries, and how they might occur.
