    Summary of long-term responses (chronic training responses) Steve Moneghetti: distance training affects both aerobic and anaerobic responses. Long-term responses or "chronic training responses" are more complex than acute responses. Here you need to take into account both anaerobic and aerobic responses. Obviously, if you train short, high intensity type training, then you can expect to see some anaerobic responses over time. Aerobic responses will be seen if you train longer, slower distance-type training (70-85% max HR). It must be noted that some of these responses can take up to 12 months before you see significant development.
