    Intervals are periods of exercising hard, with rest or low intensity periods inbetween. For example you may run 100 meters at 85% and then 200 at 50% to recover. This is one rep.     Benefits of interval training:- Interval training works well because the rest periods allow for repeated high intensity performance over greater distances and time frames than continuous work. Interval training is also not as taxing as continuous high intensity work. This type of training produces very specific training effects. The depletion-replenishment pattern permits the capacity of the ATP-PC and LA systems to be increased. Terminology used in interval training distance/duration intensity recovery/duration of rest type of activity in recovery number of sets repetitions You would manipulate these to alter the volume or intensity of training and allow overload.
