    Interplay between the systems:- The three systems do not operate in isolation from one another but are, in fact, three subsystems of the total energy production system. All three are actually providing energy at any one time in differing proportions, depending on the intensity and duration of the exercise. The three energy systems. Many refer to the systems as the aerobic (meaning with O2) and anaerobic (meaning without O2) energy systems. In this case, we can couple them in the following ways: Combining them as such makes a certain amount of sense. The two anaerobic systems don't require any oxygen, and both provide energy for high intensity work bouts over short periods of time. The aerobic O2 system, however, provides energy during submaximal work over longer periods of time. There is, however, another very important link between the energy systems:
