What does the conflict over land use have to do with recreational sports?

Conflicts Conflicts arise between recreation activities and other land uses. In some cases, a particular land use degrades the quality of the resources on which the recreation activity is based. For example, timber production and wilderness recreation are not compatible in the same area. On the other hand, pressures for recreation and preservation of existing conditions can constrain commercial or industrial developments. Conflicts can also arise between incompatible recreation activities, for example fishing and water skiing. In case of fishing, commercial and recreational fishermen may be competing for the same resource.
