maintenance rehearsal can be a few different ways to remember information whether it only short term memory (STM) or long term memory (LTM), to keep repeating this piece of information to relay to someone, keep repeating information and write it down as once you got correct information onto paper it takes a little bit of stress off and allow peace of mind and room for something not as important, the other good theory is to put into a way of being able to remember, as like in video (A) (W)icked (P)erson..765. I have always told my daughter to remember her moped number plate in that way and this has proved a good theory as she took her moped for a new tyre, they asked for number plate she went very red and also had a job to talk with laughter as it always been (H)airy (F)at (B)utt, but it proves that this theory is reliable.

Psychology -> Memory: maintenance and elaborative rehearsal Maintenance and elaborative rehearsal For information to be transferred from STM to LTM, it needs to be attended to and actively rehearsed. There are different ways to rehearse information. One is maintenance rehearsal which involves repetition of information in order to keep the material active in short-term memory. The person rehearses or repeats the information without concentrating on its meaning therefore attending to the material at only a superficial level of processing. A second type of rehearsal is elaborative rehearsal. This involves associating new information with already existing information stored in LTM for easier recall.

This makes sense of the fact that I still can remember a car number plate I HAD to remember from decades ago, I did this initially by repeating it over and over, but I can't remember the number of the new car I bought last year.
