The module starts with the introduction of SA 8000 along with its references, applications, purpose, and scope. After that, the module discusses how to build an effective Management System followed by terms and definitions that are discussed in the Standard. After that, we examine the set of requirements an organization has to fulfill to be SA 8000 certified. Finally, the requirements are further divided into sub-clauses and are explained in more detail.

This module continues the discussion of the requirements of the Standard. Child labor, forced/compulsory labor is introduced followed by the Standards demand to overcome these practices. Moreover, the module discusses what the Standard contains about health and safety of the employees, freedom of association of the workers, treatment of workers/personnel, discrimination in any way possible with the workers, working hours, and the basic rights of an employee, for example, distribution of wages.

This module covers the further requirements of the Standard, which include criteria regarding forming a Management System and a Social Performance Team (SPT). The function of SPT is also discussed. Then the module discusses the clauses in which the Standard has defined its demands for an organization to fulfill to be SA 8000 certified, For eg: communication between the organization and personnel, organizational cooperation with external stakeholders, maintenance of records including timelines.
